Yakovlev Yak-1 Highly Detailed 1:48 Scale Kit Soviet Air Force Fighter Flown by VVS ACE Lilia Litvyak Spring, 1943
With more than 36,000 produced, the Yak series was the most produced fighter aircraft history. First flown in 1940, these small planes helped reverse German fortunes during the Great Patriotic War. In the hands of a competent pilot these numble planes were more than a match for the Luftwaffe's best. The Yak was constructed almost entirely of steel tubing, wood, and fabric, making it both rugged and lightweight. This kit represents an aircraft flown by Lilia Litvyak. She was credited with 12 aircraft before her death at age of 21 in 1943
